One of the most beautiful parts of gatherings such as the Kundalini Yoga festival is the participation in group early morning Sadhana.
While the environment is subtle, the sky is dark and most people are still asleep, we greet the day ahead with prayer, practice and chanting. For many, getting up at this time of the morning can be difficult – especially if we have spent the night before catching up with friends we haven’t seen for a long time.
So to make the early morning wake up an easy one, start the practice now. However, rather than going from waking at 7am one day to 3am the next, begin slowly by setting your alarm clock 10-15 minutes earlier each day until you get to the desired time.
Also, work on getting to sleep earlier at the end of each day. As the sun sets, begin to turn off all of your electronic devices. Dim the lights and sit for a few minutes of meditation of pranayama. Take a bath, journal or sip on some herbal tea.
Don’t engage in over stimulating activities or conversation. Play some gentle music or give yourself a foot massage. All of these tips will prepare the body for an early, deep and restful sleep as well as making an early wake up much more achievable.
You can find our pre-festival Āyurvedic Tips on our facebook page on Sundays, on the Kundalini Yoga Festival website blog and newsletter. Subscribe to our mailing list here.
These tips have been shared by Namo Dev of Conscious Living, our community’s Āyurvedic and Homeopathic practitioner. Namo Dev will also be presenting at the festival as well as offering Āyurvedic tongue diagnosis and Sat Nam Rasayan healing with the Sat Nam Rasayan team. Be sure to drop in and say hello.
